A Note About Sunday

Redeemer Church,
This coming Sunday, we will continue our study of Romans in chapter 1, verses 18-32. This passage addresses the spiritual condition and behavioral practices of those who suppress the truth about God in pursuit of dishonorable passions.
In fulfilment of our commitment to teach faithfully through the whole counsel of God’s Word, we will spend a portion of this message addressing God’s good, created order for marriage between man and women. Additionally, we will be teaching on distortions of God’s order, including seeking satisfaction of individual passions in sinful and unnatural manners.
As Stephen has faithfully taught us, Paul’s desire in Romans is to faithfully proclaim the Gospel of which he was not ashamed because he knew it was the power of God for salvation. This coming Sunday, we will study the depths of humanity’s sinfulness, but we will do it with hope, knowing God’s power to save all who repent and believe.
Additionally, we want to help our families be prepared for any conversations this message may bring to the light.

First, the following biblical passages reveal God’s created order, humanity’s sinfulness, and the hope of salvation.
-              Genesis 2-3
-              Matthew 19:4–5
-              Romans 1:18-32
-              Ephesians 2:1-10
-              1 Corinthians 6:9–11
-              Titus 3:3-7
Second, if you would like to speak to a pastor or elder as you consider scripture’s teaching on these matters you may reach out to lj@redeemertn.org, austin@redeemertn.org, or elders@redeemertn.org.
Third, the staff have found the following resources to be helpful in these conversations:
-For younger elementary: “God Made Babies,” by Justin and Lindsey Holcomb
-For older elementary: “What’s the Big Deal,” by Stan and Brenna Jones
-For teens/adults: “What Does the Bible Really Teach About Homosexuality,” by Kevin DeYoung
